Resurrected Headlight Assembly

Perfect replacement for a dead HID ballast for Golf GTI Mk5. Water from the headlight unit got into the old ballast and fried it. Make sure all pistons, caps and gaskets are clean and properly installed to prevent water ingress! The new ballast revitalized the headlight assembly and saved hundreds of dollars on a new headlight.

Pros
  • Excellent fit for me
Cons
  • Faulty

Perfect fit for 2006 BMW 330ci

Due to incorrect layout of the BMW headlight wiring (cheap insulation coming off, short circuit of the lines), the original ballast exploded due to a short circuit. I ordered this ballast and we're back in business. I wish I could send BMW an invoice for the 3 tickets my son got for a broken headlight. This is German technology for you.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Almost never

But this ballast was perfect, it had the same numbers as on .

I was looking for a problem with HID xenon headlights. I've replaced the bulb and then the igniter with no success in fixing my intermittent fault. But this ballast was a perfect match, it had the same numbers as my standard ballast and has been working for a number of months with no problems and with my Xenon HID headlights which work perfectly and the same light color left and right.

Bang for your dollar!

This is exactly what I needed to fix the headlights on my 2002 BMW M3. Both displays started flickering randomly. At first I thought I would need to replace the bulb, but after searching the internet it turned out to be the most common problem with xenon headlights. I ordered two and the problem was solved immediately. Talk about hitting the dollar. The original models from Steralerships are around $250-$300 each. I paid $120 for two and they look exactly like the ones I got from the BMW.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • unreliable

Exact replacement costing pennies like BMW

I had a xenon headlight that stopped flickering slightly and stopped working at all. I replaced the lightbulbs first as they were almost 15 years old and never changed. New bulbs and still not working on one side so according to various BMW forums the next step was to change the ballast. Some were delivered quickly. Installation was easy, but since my model has headlight washers, it was a bit more difficult to remove the headlight to change the ballast. After changing the ballast and…

  • Best in its niche

  • A minor change

Works good looks the same as the original

I installed this on a 2004 330 ci to replace the original which due to insulation on the three small wires feeding the low beam bulb and the brown ground wires, failed. ruptured and parts of it broke off, causing a short circuit on those four wires. Before installing, I wrapped the wires in black electrical tape to prevent re-shorting. I highly recommend checking the wiring to make sure the insulation is in good condition and there is no moisture in the headlight. I also checked the wiring of…

Works as advertised and great price

Also known as VW's 'Range Control Module', this ballast is an exact replacement. If you don't have a headlight on one side, switch the working bulb to the side that doesn't work; If that doesn't work replace the igniter and if that doesn't work you're probably looking at the ballast mounted on the underside of the headlight assembly. You should remove the assembly. After removing the grille, unscrew all the screws on the TOP and 2 in the upper wheel well of the bumper cover, loosen the cover on

Great price, headlights flicker/bulb not working condition solved

I've started to have problems with my 09 Gti with xenon headlights. Troubleshooting this system can be a costly nightmare. A Few Tips* Remove the headlights to replace the bulbs. It's tempting to try this in the car, but it's very easy to break the locking rings, put the bulb askew and burn out the igniter. It gets more expensive from there, and removing the grille and front bumper really is a no-brainer. If you can turn a wrench and at least a third of your brain is working properly, you have…
