Would have given 5 stars but the computer setup was.

Would give 5 stars but computer setup was a bit difficult. However, they work great - tested in the mountains of Vermont and work great. Very Clear Signal --- If you are looking for a professional level at an affordable price, then this is it!

Pros
  • Ease of use
Cons
  • So far so good

Good value for money

At first I had a problem because I couldn't plug in the programming cable, but it turned out that the plug was blocked by a dust cap that wasn't pushed far enough. But even then, it takes some effort to get the program chord to click. Don't worry about the software CD that comes with this device, just download the CHIRP programming software.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Very important! Suitable for CB and radio equipment

The tone is good as long as you are within range. We used them for skiing. I think they work so well for us because we're always on the same side of the mountain. I was upstairs in the rental office and could hear everyone about 3 miles away including my husband who was in the apartment at the time. We didn't hear each other as I walked around the mountain. We were very satisfied, especially considering the price.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Fading tone

Excellent radio for the price.

Received six packages last week, should have received a programming cable and programming software but wasn't. Got online through Revain, explained the problem and sent me the missing items. Software installed and now I can program the radio. I like the look of the radio and believe it will work well in my family communication plan. And by the way, the price was great.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Band

I am very happy with my purchase

I think they are great! I have a security company, although the buildings block the signal a bit, they are very well made and very nice looking. I'm sure if I wasn't in the middle of a densely populated area I would get more range, I get about 2 miles from my house to one of my patrols and they're in their car. So I'm happy with the radios and the price is great, the quality is good, not cheap and they look good. Everyone I've shown them to loves and is impressed.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • could have chosen a more recent model

I mainly use them to record an event in a .

I mainly use them to manage an event in a large conference room in Las Vegas. They are always within reach and durable. Don't confuse them with cheap radios because of their price. You get a lot more than you pay for. I wouldn't hesitate to order more of these if I need them. The only downside that kept this review from getting 5 stars was the lack of an instruction manual. I'm sure there are features that could make my life easier if I only knew how to access them.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Great radios for portable AV

I've been using Ciscor nurse call services for 20 years and Kenwood radios are $500 per radio. These radios work great for a fraction of the price. I sent them in to be programmed and no one could, so I programmed them myself. I watched all the videos on YouTube and the end process was similar but not the same as shown. The key to programming is to download the cable driver from the CD and then you need to download the programming program from the retevis website in the support section. Unzipโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Consistent test results

  • Something different

Good radio Excellent customer service

These radios were purchased for use on the farm during harvest season. Can talk across large open areas for a few miles or so with no problem, clear as a bell. Much better than the GMRS radios I have for 35 miles. We get 2 days on a single charge, the batteries still show 3/4 charge at the end of the second day. I just don't want to push my luck and run out of batteries in the middle of the third day. The radio had a lot of clapping until I learned how to program different noise-cancellingโ€ฆ

Great radios, but belt clips don't last long.

I like almost everything about these radios. You get a lot of features for the price. They're loud, have a long range, and seem to work well for live performances. My only complaint (and I think it's a big one and applies to other Retevis radios like the RT7) is that the belt clips just don't last long. 5 of the 6 radios in this pack have broken belt clips and I've only had them for about 2 weeks. The small broomstick holding the clip and spring assembly will slip out with normal use and theโ€ฆ
