The grandson did not fit

The helmet did not fit the grandson. His head size is 21 3/8 and there is only one adjustment that keeps the helmet snug but still able to move. As a Bell I expect this to be a good product but the wrong size/style for us. I'll send it back and get another one with more customization.

Pros
  • a practical matter
Cons
  • Easy maintenance

Looks good but exposed glue pulls hair out

Looks nice, seems good quality - but some exposed glue inside pulled strands out of my 9 year old's hair. I (as a wonderful mom) advised him to wait a week and see if he gets better. It's not like this. Every time he removed them, he literally ripped out strands of hair and burst into tears every time. Returned!

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some bugs

Sticky glue inside that pulls hair out

My second grader son had another Bell children's bike helmet that he loved has increased. He had no problem with it for many years, so he bought this helmet. It looked good and was inexpensive. Today we went cycling. The son complained of pain. I took off the helmet and, oh no, I felt sticky glue inside the helmet pulling his hair out. Maybe it was an isolated case. i give it back

Pros
  • FIT SYSTEM - Our True Fit system for an easy, one-step adjustment on every ride, it's that easy
Cons
  • Some little things

Front visor tabs broken

It's not easy with children. They think everything is invincible. That's why it's a big deal when you teach them that you have to take care of something and they listen. I taught my son to clip his helmet to the strap on the handlebars every time he gets off his bike. It hangs there and doesn't touch anything. Today I noticed that the beak of the Palstic rotates. The little plastic tabs that go into the little holes to hold it in place are broken. I just expected this feature to last more thanโ€ฆ

Pros
  • COMPLIANCE - Meets US CPSC safety standard for bicycle helmets for ages 5 and up.
Cons
  • It's mostly ok, but...

Stays in place and won't grow out right away

I was hesitant to buy one "Universal" helmet to buy for your kids because so often they just hang on their heads and don't protect anything. The elastic back tensioner and adjustable chin straps on this helmet are perfect for my kids. I bought one for each of my four children: ages 6-10; with a head circumference in the range of 51-54 cm; and head shapes ranging from "spheroid" to "ovoid". This helmet fits them all for sure. (Now I just have to do something about the reckless teenagers speeding

Pros
  • SPECIFICATION - Recommended for ages 8-14 but will fit most heads 54-58cm What doesn't fit can be dangerous
Cons
  • Out of style
