If you have frequent blockages, this is what you need.

We live in a house that was built in 1965. Sewer pipes are all cast iron. The main drain in the house tends to get clogged because we have a very large tree in our yard looking for water that managed to get down the drain. I paid a plumber to come Saturday to drill the main drain and I ended up saving about $180 on my wallet. I took note of the drill he was using and then looked it up on the internet to see if it would be financially feasible for me to have one of my own. I pulled the trigger…

I LOVE THIS MACHINE

I bought this machine to clean my underground stormwater drainage system which seems to get clogged (downspouts overflow) every 2-3 years or so. I called Roto Rooter to install underground 4 inch PVC pipe for $250-$300 each. Not anymore - the Ridgid drum machine with 1/2" cable is a beast. I'm relatively young, 54 years old, and in good shape, so I decided to save about $150 and settled on a model with manual feed and eject to decide. The auto feed option is not needed and does not clear the…

Easy to use, good for rough plumbing jobs

We usually have to call a plumber to clean the drains 1-2 times a year for about $200 each. I've only used it once but the Ridgid K-400 worked very well. It was easy to set up and use and cleared my block. At less than $600 before tax, it pays for itself quickly. The K-400 is easy to set up. The device is quite heavy, so wheels are a good idea. It only took a few minutes to set up the machine for first use, attach the wheels, loosen the set screw on the bail, extend the handle and fit the…

Not Ridgid Standard

I have a pair of Ridgid Stilson keys that have never given me any problems. I bought this car even though it costs almost twice as much as a competitor's car because I wanted something reliable and with good support. When it arrived, the K-400 was missing the bolt that attaches the drum shaft to the frame. Ridgid posts a diagram of an obsolete part showing a different shaft attached with a nut and the bolt is not in their parts database. With some help from a designated support rep, I found the

Damaged upon receipt and inspection.

The box arrived slightly damaged. When I open the box, the product seems fine. When trying to mount the wheels I noticed that the axle was having trouble going through the holes. I thought if this is the worst then I'm happy. I put it in the garage to use later if needed. I have a house that was built in 1944 so I had to call a plumber to open the main drains about every 8 months. I figured next time it got clogged this wasn't the time to order this car. At a price of 200 for a plumber I…
