Bike rims need rim tape

Great product, a little tricky to install and place in place but once it works it will last for years. I use tubular tires so not sure if they are tubeless compatible.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • New competitors are here

Excellent quality bar

Very easy to apply and holds up well. My only advice is to make sure the hole in the bar lines up with the hole in the rim when you apply the tape. Once installed it can be a bit difficult to move if not aligned properly. If you need to reposition the hole after installing the strip, I used a small flathead screwdriver to reposition the strip.

  • Excellent overall performance

Great idea! - Rims and parts

Love this stuff! Had a bad experience with Velox rim tape where it wouldn't stay in place resulting in a flat butt. Read reviews recommending Ritchey brand tape. Ease of installation. I lined up the valve stem hole with the valve stem as people suggested and then ran the tape over the rim. Definitely not rocket surgery. Light. I've been on the road with it for over 200 km without any problems. It should be so.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Protects pipes from explosion

I started blowing out the internal chambers on a 12 year old rim/tear strip. In the end I found out it was old rim tape. A local bike shop put Giant rim tape on and it broke after a few days in the garage. I ordered the Ritchey as an emergency solution, otherwise I would have to buy a new wheel. So far (1 week) it's holding up well. Use pry bars to center the tape on the rim and a screwdriver to align the valve holes. Happy trails!

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • High Price

Exactly as described and exactly what I wanted

I had to fit a spare wheel for the trainer and put on those awesome rim tapes. These are light yellow plastic tires with a slight flex. They fit snugly against the rims and fit perfectly in the channel. Very smooth, with a nice smooth finish. Can't say much about durability other than they snap and feel solid. I just put on a new set of tires and the rim tapes look brand new in two weeks.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Clarity

They don't stay put, they can't be trusted.

When I replaced the inner tube a few weeks after installing the fins, I noticed that they had slipped and exposed some of the spoke holes. I removed the strips and reinstalled them making sure they were properly centered on the rims. A few weeks later I checked again and lo and behold, they slipped through everywhere. They don't seem to have enough grip on the bottom to stay in place, putting you at risk of flat feet as the spoke holes are exposed. I'm going to ditch those useless strips and…

  • Heavy Duty Construction

  • Interchangeable

Good product, tricky to install

These are good rim covers to protect your cameras from spoke head damage. The rim tapes are fabric and although they will stretch, it takes some force to get them on the wheel. I used a plastic car trim tool to center the strips and position them on all spoke heads. I think these strips will last a long time and they look very nice too. Once installed these rim tapes will not move and as they are made of synthetic fabric they should not wear out over time like rubber rim tapes do.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Very cool - perfect for my 29er!

As the name suggests, very cool! I've had my hardtail for a year and a half, and it comes with these thicker rim liners that feel like plasticβ€”you know, sharp edges (huh?) that have little to no grip, so they slide one way or the other . This can be dangerous and on a few occasions when changing my inner tubes I found that they would ride all the way up the side and take up space under the rim lip so they were mostly flush. Non-sticky, non-sticky. There have been problems with the tire bead…
