Great adapter board but poor hardware choices

This adapter board is very well designed and the small form factor is welcome. However, the included hardware for securing one end of the M.2 drive is a must for me. There is a lot of freedom in aligning the hardware between the adapter card mounting hole and the notch on the M.2 drive. And as far as complex issues go, there's no indication in this paragraph of the "right" way to install mounting hardware. Another complaint I have is that the PCI brackets have been painted black instead of…

Great product best in Computers & Accessories

This adapter does exactly what it is supposed to do and works out of the box on the new Samsung 970 Pro 512GB SSD in my Asus X99 E-WS. In fact, the drive's tests easily exceed Samsung's advertised maximum read and write speeds. The board looks like a quality product and comes with the screws and hardware needed to mount an M.2 PCIE 3.0 X4 SSD and has a low profile bracket if required. The price was very competitive and I was surprised to see no one was looking at the board. However, I am very…

Screw fits well but too finicky

At first I couldn't find a suitable mounting screw for this Rivo PCI-E Riser PCIe M.2 PCIe SSD to PCIe Express 3.0 x 4 Adapter Card, 2018 Edition. It seemed unacceptably short. But I finally got it: This is a three-part fastening system (black screw, brass nut, and brass bushing), not two parts (brass screw, brass nut). The parts are so tiny I couldn't see that what I thought was a brass screw was actually a brass socket for the black screw. I thought the black bolt was some kind of spare tire.

Great solution!

Unfortunately I found that my mainboard cannot read the MBR from the PCIe port despite this Rivo PCI-E Riser PCIe M.2 PCIe SSD to PCIe Express 3.0 x 4 adapter card, but the adapter makes memory available when using the 1TB Intel Solid State Drive (SSD) 660P series and other M.2 drives. The only problem, of course, is that the main screw is difficult to hold in place when installing an M.2 drive, so precision is required. As M.2 prices go down I will definitely be reinstalling this adapter to…
