🔧 Robinair VacuMaster 15150 Economy Vacuum Pump - 2-Stage, 1.5 CFM Review

It's much better than the cheap one I bought for $45. I should have bought that first. Much quieter. Smokes a lot less. Built with a conscience.

Bought this for occasional personal use around the home and in the car. It meets my needs and has all the features I need for home use at a reasonable price. He has performed well. I recommend this device to those who need to drain the refrigerant system from time to time (2-3 times a year).

Best quality you've come to expect from Robinaire. After the first use, the device started to turn off a few minutes after turning it on. A thermal circuit breaker protects the device from overload and overheating. I suspect mine was defective. I replaced the part myself and now the device works as expected. Robiner should keep his hands off cheap Chinese parts!

The product is excellent and well finished. I was a bit disappointed that it was made in China as Robinair used to be made in the US but that is the trend of the times. The first pump ordered had a faulty thermal switch and only ran about 30 seconds. Revain replaced it and the replacement pump works as expected. I only give four stars because of the oil mist that is thrown out during operation. I fully expected this and made a filter to capture it (used indoors) but the description said there was an internal filter to prevent this.

I'm not trying to make a living working on large HVAC units. I just want my old cars and trucks to work and the air to stay cool. This baby is exactly what the doctor ordered! It is well made, runs quieter than expected and serves its purpose. It can be a bit slower than larger units, but creates a fairly deep vacuum that removes all air and moisture from the system. I would buy this one again but I expect the one I just bought to last 10 years!

My previous vacuum pump was unnamed on ebay, said to be much more powerful than this one and cost a little less. However, Robinair has no problem matching or surpassing the performance of others, which is great to see. It's nice to see such good build quality compared to the usual junk on Ebay - for example the exhaust pipe is actually stainless steel rather than cheap flimsy plastic and is a lot nicer to work with.
