Sturdy stand with annoying wobble

This stand is fine. What I dislike the most is the fact that for such an expensive stand, the base is not flat so the stand wobbles a bit. However, this does not affect the strength, in order to knock my microphone (e935) over, there has to be a strong hit.

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not automatic

Had to be modified to maintain stability

I use a Rode NT-USB with a shock absorber and it was initially unusable as it could fall off and needed something on top of the base to keep it from falling over To prevent this, I decided to remove the 3 rubber pads on the bottom and I haven't had any issues with the mic stand falling off since.

Pros
  • Great fit for me
Cons
  • High price

Rode Microphones DS1 Desk Stand can fall off

I've used it with a Rode Podcaster USB dynamic microphone and it can't take the weight. This "Rode Microphones DS1 Desktop Desk Stand" is poorly designed by the product designer. He tried to defy the laws of physics. I will not return the product. I can still use it if I put some weight on it to balance it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Minor issues

FALLS OVER for microphones and accessories

WARNING. I bought this stand which was recommended as an optional accessory for the Rode NT1-A microphone. Once the mic was attached to the stand, it tipped over. I went online, looked through this question and found a YouTube video and user comments warning other buyers about this defect. I sent it back the day it arrived after checking it. Simply put, the round base isn't heavy enough to offset the weight of the microphone. Pretty unfortunate as it's from the same company and was…

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

DO NOT buy this if using with a Rode NT1a Microphone with Pop Screen and Shock Absorber. The stand tips over. Luckily I'm a fitness freak and had ankle weights that I no longer use. I put 15 pounds of weight on the base of the stand and now it works great. Maybe the whole 15 kilos aren't necessary, but I don't want a broken microphone. So if you have some weights to keep it up, fine. Or if you use a lighter mic without a pop filter or shock mount, you'll be fine. Otherwise, keep your hands off…
