Great lens for the price

I used to have an optional $20 Opteka lens that I used primarily with the 18-55mm lens on my Rebel XSi. It performed acceptably on the few occasions when I wanted an ultra-wide-angle view, although the huge chromatic aberration at the edges of the image and excessive vignetting were a little annoying (again, it's only $20). I still don't need fisheye lenses so I think $1000+ for Canon glass would be a waste of money. Rokinon is much more acceptable for a lens I will only release occasionally…

Pros
  • 180 degree field of view
Cons
  • Almost everything is included

Potentially great DIY product

This review is for a new Nikon AE lens that I bought in August 2012. Full screen on DX. Stellar Optics The image is less compressed at the corners than most fisheye lenses. Available cons: The focus ring is not properly adjusted. There is no information in the manual about the use of the new AE chip. If you read other reviews of this lens (and the older non-AE version) you'll keep seeing complaints that the lens produces soft images, or - from more tech-savvy users - that the focus ring isn't…

  • Aperture range F/35 ~ 22

Rokinon 8mm is a fantastic fisheye.

-- Spoilers at the end of the review -- If you currently use or need a fisheye lens for your DSLR, this is for you. (Not great on full frame cameras like Nikon FX cameras. Sorry.) I saw this on the Revain Daily Deal and thought it was a bargain at $299 for a fisheye lens. It's a nice, durable lens and I started shooting as soon as I got it. (FYI, this lens is made by Samyang in Korea and sold under different brand names like ProOPTIC, Bower, etc.) I currently have a Nikon D40 and it needs to be
