Ordered size L for my 8 year old and thought I'd take a little more to last a while. It fits very well with a little more room, I thought it would be more (maybe even need to roll up the sleeve cuffs). I ordered the same jacket but with a different print for his older brother (separate review) and he is the same (he is 10 and ordered XL). Also, the color is bright and true to the picture. My son loves the look and says it's comfortable. Seems to stay dry.

Ordered more on the advice of many. My almost 5 year old is tall and skinny, I ordered him 7/8. He's big enough to grow, but not too big. I think it was the right decision. The jacket looks high quality, the print is cool, my son doesn't want to take it off even in the sunshine. It also withstands light rain well. Haven't tested it on anything heavy yet but my son stayed dry in it for days in light rain. We take him to the coast (West America, cool, gray and often drizzly) for a bigger test.
