Cheap but cheap FBM-06

I was making a mini-ITX build and wanted something small and preferably cheap in $ but had no interest in cubes or HTPC cases. I didn't want anything fancy, so no bright lights or glass walls. It would have to house a Blu-Ray drive, a 120mm radiator with a fan, and a dual-slot graphics card. Here is what I got and I am very happy with it. The construction is quite good, if cheap. The covers for the four expansion slots are removable, and the screw holding the expansion card's retaining bracket…

Lots of problems - Externals

Only 1 hard drive possible due to RAM overlap if you don't want to put one in the drive bay, but that's risky. There is no PSU outlet for the fan, so my fan holes are misaligned AND don't blow into the case. The motherboard has enough clearance behind it for my CPU cooler bracket to fall off behind - let's just say you need to assemble the motherboard and THEN place it in the case after the GPU (fan) is 1" from the bottom (and opposite) and has no room to breathe, AND ALL the case's cables are…

If you're looking for a great value Micro-ATX case, you've come to the right place. The body itself is made of very light materials, but the finishing feels great. No awkward shapes or misaligned holes. The buttons on the case are very responsive and I haven't had any issues with internal cables being too short. It also has decent ventilation and might notice temperature drops due to my old case. The case features two USB 2.0 ports on the top panel, along with a headphone and microphone jack…

Absolutely awful

Seriously the worst case I've ever used. I wasn't expecting much in this price range. However, for a multimedia PC that had to be hidden in the back of the TV cabinet. It shouldn't look pretty. It shouldn't be permanent. Its only job was to keep some of the main components in place and off the court. It failed so badly that I (literally) threw it in the garden in despair. First, you would expect cases to be flimsy at this price point. This one is beyond thin. Imagine wet toilet paper dyed…

Good case for Micro-ATX boards

This is actually a nice case that allows you to build a good PC in a small space. The instructions are minimal and no standoffs are used (they are stamped into the bottom of the case). The metal is thick enough and the front panel doesn't look terrible. I would buy it again, but be aware of a few things: 1) The PSU fan is noisy and it uses a standard fan, but it's quite difficult to find a PSU. I can go and have surgery to replace it with something calmer. 2) If you're using this with a Ryzen…

Tight fit, reasonable price.

I like building computers. Lately I've been enjoying playing around with HTPCs. Bought until I could afford a low profile GPU and go back to my old mATX case. Let me tell you this thing is small. I had an action plan to put things here and, as others have suggested, put the floppy disks first. Long story short, I spent way too much time assembling and disassembling it due to obstructions or weird cable management. I'm not sure how much of a role my inexperience played in that. One thing that…

FBM-X1: What you need to know

Inexpensive device with USB 3.0 ports and 2 fans, but there are a few limitations: 1. Cooling. Apparently, the front grille of the case has a perforation for the passage of air, and if it did, the cooling would be excellent. But no, all intake air is routed through a small opening on the underside of the faceplate that is just 1/4 inch above the surface. Inside, there are also large openings on the top and side of the front 120mm fan (air flows around and takes the path of least resistance)…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Update available

Okay, but beware of the subtleties.

Not a bad case, it's nice that it's mostly steel case (I use it for radios and metal is important for shielding). A few criticisms: * The front bezel cutouts don't have a metal "punched plate" (like in every previous case I've had) so they let in RFI from the computer board/CPU unless you're installing a drive or put a hole a plug. * The 5.25" bay is not actually a 5.25" bay, but a dedicated CD-ROM bay. If you are planning to install a 5.25" card reader, slot-load CD drive, controller device…
