Router (router) RB750UPr2 from MikrotikThe device is a small five-port Ethernet router in a plastic case with a USB port and PoE distribution. Ports 2-5 can power other PoE-compatible devices at the same voltage as the router, eliminating unnecessary cables and power supplies. The maximum device can output up to 1 A per port or up to 2 A on all ports, all Ethernet ports are shielded. Thanks to its compact design and pleasant appearance, the device will perfectly fit into any SOHO class interior. Feel free to buy, for such a price, the quality is simply amazing.

I took it for a summer residence - a bunch of an outdoor LTE modem and a ceiling access point, both of which are powered by POE. Thus, I minimized the number of wires, I only had to switch the "input" of the Internet from the first port to another one that can issue POE. The router itself was powered through an injector from a street modem, so I didn’t have to pull the power anywhere, only a twisted pair cable.

Pros
  • It can take power from passive POE on port 1 and distribute it to other ports, that is, if there is an injector with the necessary parameters, the power supply is not needed at all (but it is also powerful in the kit). You can customize everything as you like, complete freedom of creativity.
Cons
  • Very bright red POE diodes that cannot be turned off by software. They flood the windows of neighboring ports with their radiance, so that it is not visible what is happening there and all the light indication becomes useless. For a non-specialist, the setup interface will be incomprehensible, after all, the device is designed for professionals / enthusiasts and it hardly makes sense to take it to solve standard household tasks.
