🐶 Red Riding Hood Dog Costume by Rubie's Review

Ordered as advertised but too small for my 49 lb lab mix. She wore it for a little over an hour or two to trick or treat at the dog park and ended up fraying the ties on the cape and there were ties everywhere so I had to take it off. It was odd, because the strings were the only part of the whole suit that bothered me the least, but was the naughtiest in the first place. I'm glad it wasn't too expensive because it was used up after one simple use.

I like the look of this costume. It is two-piece and the hood is attached to the top of the dress. The hood slips and shifts when my dog moves at all, so I plan to add a velcro closure at the bottom. The most important thing to note is that the suit does not stretch, so broad-chested dogs will need a much larger size. My dog is 29 pounds and her shoulders only fit an XL. In the pictures I have trimmed the size of the suit and hood at the back with safety pins. That's the only reason the landing

The costume is cute but my dog is a golden retriever and only weighs 54 pounds. She's thin and lanky, but that won't cover her chest and back. I bought size XL because I thought her neck circumference, height and back length would fit, but she didn't close completely. The three or four bottom clasps worked just as well as the one at the neck, but the middle ones didn't close. At least the cape covers the exposed part, but considering it's a 'dog' outfit I would think it would suit her a little…

I saw this costume in July and knew I would order it for my 2 year old German Shepherd and Husky. I finally managed to measure and order it and the size is definitely a size down. The neck and length are ok but the armholes and chest are too tight and I will have to alter it for her to ever wear it. So I bought it in early October. I will say that the arrival time was reasonable as I don't think the sizes I ordered were available on Prime at the time. So I order XL first. Send big. So I end up doing a return because exchanges are not allowed. Then I reorder XL and receive XL (the largest size you can order). My dog is the same size as the husky pictured in the ad. Purchased size XL for my 35 lb whippet with 24 inch chest depth. The dress was tight and the velcro pulled it tight, but the cape hid it. According to the size chart, the XL size needed to push some space, it should fit up to 27 inch chest, so the sizing is wrong. While the costume is very cute, it has issues that weren't thought through during the design phase.
