Useless Blunt Rasp - Horses

Do not buy a blunt rasp as it is very difficult to get the hooves off. I have a fifty year old rasp that works better than this one.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Almost never

Big and heavy best tool

I ordered this for my goat legs oh my god it's very big it stands for goats but it's more for big farm animals like cows and horses. Also very difficult

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • some bugs

Good rasp for miniature donkey hooves

Well made rasp, well suited for miniature donkey hooves. It's also well rated. Will buy again if this time needs replacing.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • unreliable

Mini hoof rasp goes well with tools

Product works as intended. My farrier recommended a mini rasp as hooves sometimes get jagged between visits due to rocks in the ground. Works as intended, but it took me longer than I thought it would. I suppose a man wouldn't have a problem, but I have small hands.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Low repairability

Quality and size of tools

I have used and owned several, the steel in the rasp is good. Ideal for small hands and hooves. The handle has less than we would like. I've only recently bought two and keep them as backups - used today, never used, the handle was loose and the handle is cracked and not holding the blade securely.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Negative impression

Good size and comfortable to hold but not very sharp.

Bought for use on goat hooves. The size and grip are great, but I really have to work hard to get the pressure needed to rattle. It could be sharper and the blade thinner. Next time I'll probably buy a full size forge rasp. I would give 5 stars if it was sharper.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged

Dull and useless - Horses

This hoof rasp replaces the mini rasp (another brand) that I have used regularly on my miniature donkey for the past 12-15 years. I should have been rewarded with a much lighter rasp and faster hoof trimming with a brand new (probably sharp) tool, but instead I worked much harder with little to no hoof wall removal. The blades simply glide over the surface no matter how light or hard the rasp is used. After struggling with it for a few minutes, I switched to my old mini rasp and breathed a sigh

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic
