🎨 270976 Zinsser White B-I-N Advanced Synthetic Shellac Primer - 1 Gallon (Pack of 1) Review

I've used this primer on cabinets, it doesn't hold up well and some stains show through. It also doesn't sand as smooth as the original, I had to prime twice to get good coverage. If you see the word ADVANCED on the can, don't use it. Very disappointed. I have 2 unopened gallons that I don't need, ugh!

I used this because it is water based and has no burning issues. I sprayed with an airless sprayer, the coverage is very good, it smooths out fairly well. I've noticed that it doesn't grind as well as the original BIN. Did a nickel scratch test and am impressed with the adhesion. Works better than some of the other expensive water based primers I've used. Painted 38 kitchens and built-in doors that look good so far.

I bought this hoping to restore a used bookshelf. It smelled like cigarette smoke. We cleaned the bookshelf with baking soda and vinegar and sprayed it with scented enzyme spray to clean it up. Next we applied a primer and two coats of paint. We've covered every inch of the product! Just bring him in and after 12 hours in the room he was in he smelled like smoke. Pity! Didn't have the same results as all the positive reviews we read.

I used the original basket to prime the old bog oak finish but my local dealer was out of stock and I was very happy to find one at Revain . But I didn't look closely enough to see that this is actually an ADVANCED formula. I've read other reviews of tannins seeping through Advanced. I applied two coats of this Advanced to my old oak that I have painted. The second layer appeared yellowish to me. I didn't want to risk the end product, so I found the original BIN in stock at another local store,
