Cam Lock/Latch - Water Heater Parts & Accessories

This item must be inserted through the hole before the flat handle/tab is attached. It is too big to fit the Atwood HW heater's round hole.

Pros

Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

The water heater can be latched

A good solid piece seems more durable to me than the factory plastic one. No instructions came, it took me a few tries but I finally figured it out. Much luck!

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

It looks like the original spare part

It was a bit difficult to figure out how to install as the instructions for this part are a bit lacking. But once you figure it out, it's an easy replacement and well worth the money.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Almost never

Close, but not a direct match.

I had to widen the existing lock hole a little to make it fit. I also find the thing to be a little long as the water heater cover doesn't pull on the camper as tightly as I would like. I'll have to check that out next time I drive.

Pros
  • 1 year trial period
Cons
  • It's ok

Keep the hatch closed!

This replacement part was slightly larger than the factory part. But with a little investment of time on a small file, it fit perfectly. Glad there were two packs - a friend I camped with had the hatch open as soon as we got to the campsite. He's got another one! Highly recommended !

Do not buy this door latch

The latch clip in the faulty factory part was spring steel. This replacement clip deformed when reassembled onto the original piece of spring steel. I could be wrong, but I believe the clip in this Chinese fake is made out of chewing gum wrapped in aluminum foil. Far from spring steel.

Pros
  • Working well
Cons
  • Faulty

Know the diameter of the hole on the frame.

Caution! Not all water heater door RV toggle latches have the same hole diameter on the latch frame. The stem of the product had to be pinched with needle nose pliers to get it through the hole in mine. Alternatively, a wider hole could be drilled. A lot of work. Luckily the metal didn't break. a while.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Fits Suburban water heaters on my 2007 Roadtrek 210 Popular

Very easy to install. It only lasted a few minutes. It didn't come with instructions, which I knew before I bought it. Just go to Youtube to find the installation video. I replaced the stock (plastic) cam lock with this steel lock and it should last a very long time. This will ensure you don't lose the RV hot water heater cover while driving. Initially, the shaft of this new camlock did not go through the hole from which the stock camlock was removed. All you have to do is simply use a pair of…
