Doesn't work for car trim.

I sent back what I bought. It's probably good for small woodwork, but not at all good for sanding the peeling paint on my truck. For me, it has only unevenly scratched the surface. It didn't smooth anything and abraded the rest of the paint horribly. The battery didn't last long (I have a large Li-ion battery), which is also a good thing - I ended up doing all the grinding by hand to get it right. I'll take a random orbital sander to do other work. I probably should have done that first. I got…

A good sander that is economical with 1/4 sheet of sandpaper.

Every worthy project deserves the privilege of getting a new tool to get the job done. In this case I have an old work chair that needed to be refurbished and refurbished. The sander works great, the 1/4 size sandpaper sheets attach easily to the base, and the hole punch tool comes with a few initial sheets of sandpaper. Only got this ryobi grinder because DeWalt didn't have a battery powered grinder. As others have pointed out this grinder did not come in the Ryobi packaging shown in the picture but in a plain white box which makes me wonder why and what is wrong with that although it is probably fine. The 18v battery I already have, charged by wqw and used sparingly on an electric drill I no longer use, was only able to power this grinder for 10 seconds before it stalled.
