Great pro router.

I've been looking for a decent wired router for many years. Basically we have ethernet cables because where the cable enters is its terrible place for Wi-Fi, so why not just unplug it? The problem I always run into is that most of them are either so pro-oriented (Ubiquiti) that I can't figure it out. Or they're so expensive that it makes sense to just buy another mid-range WiFi router and disable WiFi. It was a good balance. Simple enough, with the advanced features I was looking for. Only real

Not suitable for typical living situations

I'd like to give this one more stars because I think it might work better in a situation where an IT pro can set it up. I bought this because I needed a clean router - no wifi. I have an OnQ metal box that contains cables, telephone and network cables. The cable modem had wifi but was useless in a metal box and not very good quality anyway. So I bought a basic cable modem without WiFi. Unfortunately, it also has no router. I also purchased a three-node Linksys Velop Wi-Fi mesh system. Butโ€ฆ

The best router for SOHO and home use with multiple outlets!

So replacing my old tp-link 470+ router took almost a month of research and testing. Here's what I found out and I really hope it helps someone save some time. I was a network administrator over 20 years ago. I don't see myself as an expert far out of the field. I have two 4Mbps DSL lines coming into my house (I'm not near a city). I have an email server, a file server and our house is highly automated. There are only two of us at home, but my wife and I are avid gamers. We broadcast most ofโ€ฆ

Great for a gig internet connection at home

An updated 10 year old commercial SOHO firewall that was genuine and reliable to the end. Trying this product out and going from an expensive, high-end firewall to a relatively inexpensive unknown brand was a little nerve-wracking. However, this product (non-WiFi version) was something I got up and running in minutes. Kudos to TPLink for the simplicity of this product. As with any hardware device, I strongly recommend that once you connect to the internet, you immediately download and apply the

Problems with the processor or just low power

I bought this device according to the description of the "gigabit" router. I had 2 TP-Link WiFi routers (works great!) and I have networking experience. I've found the NAT throughput to be pretty far from Gig at 680Mbps, but with my cable modem only at 400 I didn't expect any issues. Upon installation, I was shocked to see that the CPU was tied to a simple speed test, and while it might start at 300 seconds (which isn't good), once this CPU is loaded it was the best speed I've ever seen , 180โ€ฆ

Attention! , they sell OLD stock of a lower spec model, you will receive the OLD model NOT the advertised! The photo and description in this listing is for TP-Link TL-600VPN V3or4, ie model with 4WAN port. What the vendor sent me was an older older V2 model that can only support ONE WAN connection, it looks COMPLETELY different. This is a waste of my time and effort as I needed multiple WAN interfaces which is the only reason for the purchase. (V3 or V4 devices also seem to have a MUCH betterโ€ฆ

Has not been updated or fixed since purchase. Sold out by TP-LINK

Much of any router with a firewall is dependent on the owning company updating the software to protect against hackers and security breaches. TP-Link has not done or offered a firmware update since I bought this device 18 months ago. I'm surprised it's rated so highly because it's a terrible device security wise. I wish I could make this top comment so everyone knows they are buying a serious problem. Tech support was terrible too. A call to ask if they ever plan to update the firmware wasโ€ฆ
