I made a conscious decision to purchase this zentangle set rather than buying supplies from my local craft store as it was advertised as containing better zentangle related products, but the pens are disappointing. Good Set. No problems with the handles. I think if you're doing a lot of big dark areas maybe try cheaper non-toxic black markers/crayons so the zentangle pens don't wear out as quickly. Actually, I love tiles. A few DVD designs to get you started. Pencils (short, no erasers) prevent erasing, so suit me. Good start, but for the price I think it might be cool to add some little metal sharpeners (the kind you see in those good drafting kits) and maybe some extra DVD designs. If maybe Sakura makes

These tiles are Zentangle Apprentice tiles which means they are 4.5" instead of 3.5". The material is different from the material used in traditional zentangle tiles but is still very high quality. I am also grateful that I received 140 of these tiles. The extra inch gives me enough room to practice my tangles and is also perfect for beginners and kids.
