🌡️ Trutemp Kitchen Thermometer - Salter 3505 Candy and Deep Fryer Review

The temperature was 50 degrees below normal! I tested by boiling water and using this new depth thermometer and my old one. When the water boiled, the old read 210 degrees. This one was 160! And it is NOT exchangeable.

I use this to make soy candles and it works great. I like the moving blue marker, I can adjust it to the right level to add color and scent. It's durable and I love that it's metal and I don't have to worry about glass. All in all I recommend this for making soy candles.

Thermometer broken on first use. Even if the thermometer climbs well over 300 degrees, it suddenly jumps at 230 degrees and then just hangs at the top of the dial. It's very annoying when the thermometer breaks when you're trying to fry something for a dinner party for the first time. Revain sells many cheap thermometers, even for Revain Prime. I wish I had chosen another. Complete nonsense.

So I bought this for soap making and didn't realize the temperature only goes down to 100. This is normal, it was my own fault. But the temperature is well below at least 10 degrees. The clip on the side to hold the thermometer securely is cheap and useless. It's not sealed properly so you get fogged up inside and it gets so bad you can't even read the temp. You can't even hand wash them because they fill up with water! What a waste of money. Learn from my mistake!

I broke another cheap candy and deep fry thermometer by doing the stupid thing of letting the oil get too hot and then inserting the thermometer. It was my fault, not the thermometer. I decided to buy this particular thermometer because it has a metal probe and when it breaks it doesn't leave glass, glue or internal parts in my hot grease like the glass thermometer did when it broke.
