Samlex Solar SAM 800 12 Modified Inverter Review

I use it to power my laptop and my mobile car printer. I have a cart with batteries connected to an inverter. The inverter takes over the power supply for my devices

Samlex is a fairly old and respected name in power electronics. I was surprised and happy to see this for sale at Revain at a very good price. It's still new but I expect good performance from this inverter.

says it has polarity protection which it does but all fuses are internal and soldered to the board. So if you connect them wrong they will all burn out and the only way to fix this is to disassemble, desolder all the connections, then pull the fuses and then re-solder them again, otherwise the construction looks solid. External fuse holders would be great

This little inverter saved us in a time of need. We managed to start our fridge, gas stove (separately) and charge appliances. The gaming computer rig also ran, but the power supply made loud humming noises because the waveform coming from the inverter is not a pure sine wave. It wasn't able to charge any of my launches, again probably due to the waveform. But overall he did his job.

I bought this inverter to run AC from DC batteries in our caravan (TT) during camping off grid. My plan was to simply connect the TT shore power cable to this inverter (the onboard TT AC/DC converter was off) and then all internal AC outlets would be powered. The inverter shut down and the error light came on as soon as I connected the shore power cable to it. Did some troubleshooting and research and found that the manual says it won't connect to an AC distribution board or it will fail…
