They have a very short lifespan. Buyer Warning.

I bought two of these drives in May 2017. After using them on a Synology NAS for three months, both drives failed. I had to send it to Samsung to have it repaired. In the meantime I bought another set. Now they too have failed. After speaking to Samsung support they said (after I only used them for 3-4 months that they are out of warranty because they are over 100% utilised). very short and Samsung will not repair them or honor their warranty. I use my Synology as a backup drive and that's just

Wonderful. - Computers and accessories

This drive is the best I have ever bought and now I am spoiled for choice with nvme drives. Installation was easy and there were no cables behind my case either. Make sure you read the motherboard manual for the speed this drive can handle for the specific PCIe lines used. If I were to use pcie4 on my motherboard it would run at x2 speed which is half the speed this drive can use. Also to another review posted about streaks on your CPU; Yes the 6700k has 16 lanes to use PCIe 3.0 which is what…

The perfect upgrade for the MacBook Pro!

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina 13" Early 2015) model A1502 MacBookPro12.1. Starting with macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Apple supports NVMe drives. Depending on the model, it can be easily replaced. For my model, I needed an m.2 to Apple 12+16 pin adapter ($10, just make sure you get one from the US or you might have to wait a long time). See iFixit for SSD replacement instructions. Booted from a bootable High Sierra USB drive and Disk Utility recognized and was able to format the drive immediately. I…

I highly recommend using model

If you have this model "MacBookPro11,4" I would not recommend buying this SSD. It will fail due to Kernel Panic during heavy operations and unfortunately no one has left this type of recall yet. If you want to test it, install Virtualbox and try to install Windows 7 or maybe Windows 10. That's a large enough I/O operation to reliably cause a kernel panic. The SSD is fast, but well documented in various Mac forums. on the web and Hackintosh forums that this particular SSD is problematic for…

However, very fast storage. it costs money?

Since I bought this product, the cost per gigabyte of an SSD has come down significantly. However, there are a few caveats about NVMe storage that I didn't address initially with this purchase. Am I satisfied with the performance of this drive? Yes. Absolutely. Does this make my PC 4x or 5x faster (based on speed factors for NVMe/M.2 vs regular SATA SSD transfer speeds)? no Some operations might be "almost twice as fast", but in general the performance gain is closer to 15%. Another factor for…

TOP and about 6x faster than my EVO 850 SSD

This is a review of the Samsung 960 EVO 250GB M.2 SSD. A few bucks saved but it's a BEAST! I'm using this with a Lycom DT-120 M.2 PCIe to PCIe 3.0 x4 adapter (M.2 PCIe 2280, 2260, 2242 support) which was very cheap. I did a lot of research and this card was my answer when I was looking for a way to add an Evo 960 SSD to my computer in a way that would actually allow the SSD to run at full speed. As long as your motherboard supports PCI Express boot or has a full-speed M2 slot, you're good to…

Instantly boot your operating system and more.

I am using this on a new build to replace my 10 year old system (i7-920, P6t Mobo) and it works great. You should enjoy the instant boot from an SSD. Even cooler is how quickly you can start your antivirus. Checking for updates takes longer than running a scan. I booted the OS to an SSD and used a regular HDD to store everything else. Windows has a settings page where you can choose where you want to store your music, documents, etc. on C(your SSD) or D(your hard drive). Or you can just right…
