The perfect upgrade for the MacBook Pro!

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina 13" Early 2015) model A1502 MacBookPro12.1. Starting with macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Apple supports NVMe drives. Depending on the model, it can be easily replaced. For my model, I needed an m.2 to Apple 12+16 pin adapter ($10, just make sure you get one from the US or you might have to wait a long time). See iFixit for SSD replacement instructions. Booted from a bootable High Sierra USB drive and Disk Utility recognized and was able to format the drive immediately. I restored my files from a Time Machine online backup (no problem). I chose the 960 EVO over the newer 970 EVO because it was a lot cheaper (299 past the 2018 peak day) and my particular laptop only has PCIe 2.0 x4, so a bit of googling showed that I was already checking my connection speed at 960 maximized to address two potential issues that have been reported multiple times elsewhere: With this combination, I did NOT have to use any Linux utilities, but I did have to switch the sleep setting to "hibernate" 25, from the standard Mac laptop "safe". Hibernate 3 to avoid the "blinking question mark folder" crash when resuming from hibernation.
