There is a little trick to install this mandatory device

Get it first! I was about to have a funeral for my aging tower system. It has a decent quad-core processor, I packed all the memory it has, got a GPU, bought new and faster drives, and put the OS and applications on a separate drive. Load times and constant lag were killing me. Then I saw it. My only problem was that the user manual and several help pages told me to run Magician, which didn't do anything for me. I ended up calling Samsung support (very good support). Here's what he told me:…

Pros
  • . This product does not use SD cards, and SD cards do not normally interact with hard drives.
Cons
  • So far, so good

Warning! Defective items shipped with the July 2018 releases

I ordered a hard drive and tested it using the Crystal Disk benchmark. This resulted in only 50% less speed than stated in the specifications. I have a 5 year old Samsung SSD with the same OS that showed speeds over 500MB/s in a sequential test. I ran the same test with another Samsung SSD 850 EVO, which also showed speeds in excess of 500MB/s. I made sure that all parameters are the same for different SSDs. I got a replacement drive from Amazon and it turned out to be defective as well. I…

Works great as an external boot drive for my Late 2012 iMac

The hard drive in my Late 2012 iMac is starting to die. Since the hard drives in an iMac are inaccessible to the user (at least not without major intervention), I decided to use an external drive as both the boot and system drives. I bought this drive and a HighPoint Dual-Bay Thunderbolt 10Gbps Storage Dock (RocketStor 5212) to house it. I put the disk in HighPoint, then connected everything. Booted into recovery mode (Command-R at boot). Reformat the drive to HFS+ journal (with a GUID…

Not plug and play, but not difficult if you know the technique

I have an HP Z600 computer. I had to update the BIOS for the Samsung Magician software to recognize the new drive. But I still couldn't see it in Windows Explorer because it wasn't formatted. It took a while to find the fix: In Windows 10, open Windows Explorer, click THIS PC in the left column, then click MANAGE in the top menu. A new window called "Computer Management" will open. Click DISK MANAGEMENT in the left column. There should be a new hard drive there. Because it hasn't been formatted

Pros
  • Data storage
Cons
  • Very expensive

I have an almost 9 year old CyberPower desktop with an Asus P6T motherboard and wanted to eliminate a potential source of failure to find more Durability. And if I get more power, all the better. It turned out to be a very good move. Of course, the order came within the main two-day window you'd expect from Revain. I also got a Corsair dual SSD mounting bracket which was an option to order for another $6. I've covered it separately, but it's required if you're installing it in a 5 1/2" bay like
