Works great as an external boot drive for my Late 2012 iMac

The hard drive in my Late 2012 iMac is starting to die. Since the hard drives in an iMac are inaccessible to the user (at least not without major intervention), I decided to use an external drive as both the boot and system drives. I bought this drive and a HighPoint Dual-Bay Thunderbolt 10Gbps Storage Dock (RocketStor 5212) to house it. I put the disk in HighPoint, then connected everything. Booted into recovery mode (Command-R at boot). Reformat the drive to HFS+ journal (with a GUID partition mapping). macOS reinstalled. Tips for transferring data from a Time Machine backup (users, documents, etc. I've selected all options). Everything works perfectly! During the OS installation, the disk format was changed to APFS (instead of HFS+) because I'm using High Sierra. Finally, I went into System Preferences and enabled FileVault (which is still running in the background and will probably take another day or two). Best of all, my 2012 iMac is even faster now than it was when it was brand new! 5212)
