Film and sediment in the water

I noticed a film that melted off the cubes and floated to the glass surface. I've tried hand washing the molds and also washing them in the dishwasher but it only got worse. I have regular ice trays that I still use today that don't form a film or sediment. I've even made both trays side by side from the same water filling and experimented, and silicone cubes still produce a thick film while regular ice cube trays are crystal clear. I do not know what to do

Pros
  • New to my collection

Giant blocks of ice for the kitchen and dining room

I bought these silicone ice molds because the plastic ones always break, are brittle and look ugly. These trays are very flexible, I love the color and especially the size of the ice cubes. The pictures below show the ice cubes from the side and from the front so you can see how big they are. The cubes shown here are not the exact size of a square. I only filled the squares about 75%. When using this ice tray I only need one block per glass because the ice is so big and it keeps your drink…

The work is perfect for what I use it for.

I bought them for purposes other than drinks. I make my own supply and usually freeze them in ziplock bags, but if the zipper didn't hold or the bag was punctured, my supply was wasted. I don't do canning, so I didn't want to go through the process, and I like being available in smaller batches. Well I've discovered these beauties! One cube is the perfect 1/3 cup, 3 cubes is 1 cup so they melt quickly when I toss them in a bowl. I do the stock crafting process and then divide it into bowls. I…

Better than the 6cc model; do not cut or air before use

Works for me much better than the 6 cube model which bends and falls apart when placed in the freezer with one hand; This 8cc block has good solid stiffness that avoids this. Also, the 6-cube tray ran out too often. Cubes are better than spheres because their larger surface area provides better cooling than hard-to-fill spheres (a sphere has the smallest surface area for a given volume). On a 6 or 8 dice tray, no cuts: the dice freeze so that their outer edges are higher than the center, at…

Perfect for flower cubes!

These bowls are perfect for making flower cubes for a children's party. They were a HIT! I will say that you need to freeze the cubes in three steps so that the flowers do not float to the top. I turned the roses upside down, facing the bottom of the cube. 1/3 filled with water. Place in the freezer for several hours until fully set. Then I added more petals or a small rose. Filled the next 1/3. Back in the freezer for a few hours. Then fill the last 1/3 up with water (and add more flowers as…
