Exactly what I needed

Quick review this time: Used in my home office with Cmple low voltage bracket and Cat6 cable. We pay our ISP for a 200Mbps service and as you can see in the picture we get a little more. Installation is easy and looks good. 5/5 stars.

Good for wiring POE camera from attached garage

I bought this to get power over ethernet cables running through the attached garage into my house. Since I didn't want to drill multiple holes and the climate isn't controlled, it was important to me to have a wall panel that I can seal and insulate all around. This item works great, as far as I know it was a great purchase.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Ideal for internet connection from home to the bonus room.

I work in IT for a living, have run quite a few cables over the years and have worked a lot in corporate data centers. I've seen far more failures from stamped terminations than simply crimping an ice cube (RJ45) onto the end of a cable. Therefore, the presence of a double socket in the wall plate was attractive. It worked well. After three months of work on the garage, this wall panel is working perfectly.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Some bugs

Returned before receipt

Everything is fine with that. I found I had enough connections on my existing Leviton wall plates so I bought the RJ45 separately and sent that back. Surprised that he appeared in the review. I wanted to get this because I could just plug the RJ45 ends into the back panel, but also realized I couldn't put all the already made camera cables through the same hole with plugs, so I'd still have to run new ends. But it's a good idea if you have cables with ends on either side of the wall.

  • Good product for its price

  • Was damaged

Unreliable and poorly designed.

this is not good. I've ordered about a dozen of these and they all have the same error. As others have said, there is a slight side play once plugged in. As you can see from the photos most of them are derelict. Wire springs that come into contact with the cable get caught in the fingers that separate them. Half of the pens were sticking out of the box. I fixed the misaligned pins and after connecting a cable to them they stuck again. I'm afraid they are completely unreliable and I have noโ€ฆ

The wall plate is ok, the screws are cheap.

I read the reviews and bought it anyway. Everyone is right, you won't be able to install this, at least not without ruining the finish on the white screws. I installed it but I guarantee these screws will break if I have to remove and reinstall it. If you don't mind, the wallboard itself seems to work fine. This did not decrease my throughput (220+ Mbps with Cat 5e and 200 Mbps with Xfinity). I don't plug it in every day, only once and made something like this, so I can't say it stands up toโ€ฆ

Make sure you want RJ45 on both sides

I thought it was a good deal at $20 including all the keystone jacks. What I didn't notice was that they had nests on either side. It was my fault. I deducted a star because there is no cable entry on one side. However, the trapezoidal holes are perfect for other attachments, the face looks nice and is higher quality than other faces I've bought. installation was a breeze. I took out all the dual RJ-45 inserts and put in my own keystone jacks: https://amzn.to/2FWnPVw plus some blank inserts soโ€ฆ

Screws are worse!

While this product makes connecting network cables convenient, the cheap screws that come with this wall plate make installation a nightmare. instead of screws. I installed two of these ethernet wallplates in two different low voltage mounting brackets. These mounting brackets are unthreaded. Essentially, you create threads as you go. It requires more torque and the screw heads are flat. A lot of force is required when using hand tools to prevent the heads from being removed. A small slottedโ€ฆ

Functional but terrible setup

bought for the new Cat 5e connections I'm using in my house. What's good: Most importantly, the connections work. The board looks like in the photo. Supplied with colour-coordinated plastic screw caps to hide the screws. They look the same as in the photo. Now for the rest. The biggest problem with this record is the installation. The Phillips screw heads provided with the plate are smaller than the "regular" size used in most wall plates, and the metal is soft so the screw heads come looseโ€ฆ
