Does the job - kitchen and bathroom fixtures

I have an old Pur water filter pitcher so it's difficult to find replacement filters on store shelves. They fit as they should and although I rinsed and soaked with water first, the first two jugs of water still had a bad taste reminding it's time to change the filter but after that the water was fine - so I know it works, it goes through a "warm up" phase. The tap water in my area is safe, but it can have a slightly musty taste and stale smell. I've been using the Pur Filtration System for…

Very happy with these filters (for my Brita jug)

I was hesitant to try these filters after reading some of the reviews but I'm so happy I gave them a try! I actually like them better than my Brita filters (although they were "old style" as I usually buy in bulk and haven't tried new ones yet). After soaking the filter in a cup of water for more than 10 minutes, I placed the filter in my Brita jug and pushed it in so the rubber band made a good seal, then filled the container with water. The water is filtered well - can't tell if it's slower…

Sapphire vs. Brita Video explanation

So I tried both filters. I think Brita's tastes were a little better. Filtration times varied for sapphire. New, she was about the same as Brita. After a while the 2nd filter in the pack became very slow. Like the video posted by Grace. I like to do my research before I give up or report negative reviews. It blocks the suction power! (This has happened twice already.) I'm a nurse and this will happen with catheters too and they won't expire. I lifted the filter, took it out, put it back in and…

Cons

I do not know why the negative reviews. We have very hard water and they work exactly like a Brita filter, the soaking instructions are exactly the same as Brita, the water isn't metallic gray or tastes funny, yes they have a band around them to make a seal, it worked great on my britafilter there is no leakage. I only bought three to test them out but will use these for now, in my opinion they are just as good as the Brita filters and a cheaper alternative. Some people say they filter slow and

Don't quite get there.

I am not happy with the Sapphire replacement filters (I use them in the classic Brita jug) because they are so cheap. But I thought it might be helpful to mention that I really doubt they filter as well as the original Brita filters. I live in San Diego and our water tastes the worst because it has quite a lot of dissolved salts. Replaceable sapphire filters are significantly inferior in improving water taste compared to Brita. Water tastes a lot better than tap water, yes, but it doesn't taste

Pros
  • High test scores for hold and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other filters
