Easy installation and firmware update, works perfectly

Why have I waited so long for this card?! I've been trying to use add-in cards for years to get good performance and reliable performance at an affordable price from a system with 10x drives organized as Linux Raid 1 and Raid 10 arrays. This card is only $20 more than cards with 4 PCIe 1x ports and offers MUCH more performance in a PCIe 8x slot. I now have all drives running at full SATA III speed (6Gbps) with no issues. the week. This card recognized all arrays immediately! My card came with…

Reliable controller, bloody hard to find the latest firmware.

I've had this for about 4 years now. Reliable as a freeNAS controller for 8 Western Digital 2TB Red. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars and I thought about giving it 3 stars is because LSI went to Broadcom, Broadcom to Avago. So it's almost impossible to find the latest firmware package 9211-8i_Package_P20_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows.zip. I looked around for the filename and was able to search their website and found docs.broadcom.com/docs/9211_8i_Package_P20_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windo…

Ideal for adding multiple SSDs (in IT mode).

Great for adding multiple individual (JBOD) SSDs I installed this on an ASUS TUF H370-Pro Gaming MOBO. I had to search a lot to find the right order to build the firmware on IT with a newer firmware version. Apparently the DOS boot doesn't work with some Intel configurations. Various directions offered by default did not work. However, the Freenas forums gave me everything I needed. Sorry, but the instructions require URLs and Revain doesn't allow that. Performance is almost the same as my MOBO
