And has a nice click. I used it to replace a plastic switch in an old floor lamp with an exposed metal ball. Very simple and direct. The screws are colour-coded: Ribbed wire goes on silver, the other on gold. IMPORTANT: Pay attention to how the switch you are replacing is installed, namely the order of the washers, nuts, etc. Install the new one the same way you removed the old one and make sure you put it in place fasten well. I received 2 packs of these pens and they looked great when they arrived. I checked the knobs, they work as they should. Spins easily and has no sticky dots. I built one into a pivoting headlamp and it was very easy to install. I like the little washers under the screw. It's as easy as just slipping a wire under a screw and tightening it. So far so good with lamp sockets

Seems to be working well. Installation was relatively easy and required no soldering. Before you buy, check the hole that the switch goes in your lamp. If the hole has slightly flat sides, this plug will likely fit (the dimensions seem pretty standard). I recommend getting or borrowing a multimeter with a continuity test function.
