Spring Broke, no longer accepts micro SD cards

After some, frankly, very light use, the internal spring in the micro SD card slot broke. Unfortunately, the sealed design means I can't just take it apart and try to fix a broken slot. Two stars because at least the SD card slot hasn't broken (yet).

Pros
  • understandable even for the old ones
Cons
  • trifles

Works with Sony SD card but not Lexar SD card

Works great with my 64GB Sony G-XCII SD card. Works very slowly with the Lexar 2000X XCII card. It takes a few minutes for the card to be recognized on my MacBook Pro, and then the data transfer that would normally take a minute or so on this machine takes over 30 minutes.(!)

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish

This reader is really fast!

That thing is fast! I connected a Lexar 2000x HCII 300Mbps 64GB SD card to a Satechi USB-C UHS-II card reader and then plugged the card reader directly into the USB-C port on my Asus Maximus IX Hero motherboard. 1284 16.6 MB graphic files in one minute and 29 seconds. The average read speed was 258 MB/s and the average write speed per card was 191 MB/s. I would say it was a great achievement!

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • No

True 93MB/s performance on an A1 microSDHC UHS-I Micro SD card

Every cardholder should have these. They are not joking when they say that it can transmit up to 312 Mbps. I was a little skeptical as my other generic SD reader can only write at 20MB/s. I can achieve write speeds of 93MB/s on a Sandisk microSDHC UHS-I MicroSD card, which has a theoretical maximum write speed of 98MB/s with a Satechi high-speed reader. Being able to transfer files between two cards without first copying them to a computer is great too!

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Long delivery time

High Price Matches Apple's Design

If you have a spacey gray Macbook and are willing to shell out dollars for a handy USB-C card reader, look no further. It is spring loaded and so far has worked correctly apart from one occasion when I thought the card was stuck. Nice to have when traveling with your Macbook (or any laptop without a USB-C card reader), it's great. Otherwise, it might be better to use an adapter with a PD (if ports are limited like the iPad) or more inputs. It's still fine if it fits your budget.

Bargain Computers and Accessories

This reader is exactly SDXC certified, people complain that cards won't read or get errors, I bet it's the cards and not this device, I've got it all checked my lexar cards and found that some of them were non-genuine or defective, speed is correct and accurate, build quality is the same as everything else they sell, a bit pricey but worth it. I have used other brands and just stopped using them, went back to this one and saw a difference. Check your SD cards and make sure they are not fake…

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Not sure

Excellent product - quality and speed

I'm glad I trusted the reviews on this product. Metal housing, high-quality workmanship, beautiful flexible cable, 240 MB/s (1.92 Gbit/s) transfer rate with Sony UHSII Tough Card (300 MB/s writing speed). Nice touches like: a tiny hole-sized blue LED to confirm connection; spring-loaded insert with positive click; The SD card doesn't fit all the way into the card reader (about 1/8 inch is left open) so you can push it in slightly to activate the spring pushing it out. Simply a fantastic…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Speed

Bought after seeing the comparable 300MB/s speed of Sony cards with their MacBook Pro was slower than others. My previous card reader was the Sandisk UHS-II USB-C version. The speed difference between Satechi and Sandisk in my case was only 13 MB/s writing and 19 MB/s reading, but Satechi's sleek design, convenience of dual card slots, and reliability made it more worthwhile (there were issues where Sandisk sometimes only achieved UHS-I even though it was a UHS-II card). The SD card is inserted

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • Hard to say
