Description of Schmincke Horadam Aquarell 5ml Paint Tube Metal Set - Vibrant Set of 12 Colors for Artists

Superior quality, natural ingredients are carefully selected each year for every formula for highest optimization. Traditional formulas since 1881 are the same in pans and tubes. Formulas used by classic artists like Emil Nolde and Oskar Kokoschka. An optimal amount of Oxgall enables the artist to decide (and not the paint!) as to where the paint should flow moist or stay dry on the paper. Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red Light, Permanent Carmine, Ultramarine Finest, Prussian Blue, Phthalo Green, Permanent Green Olive, Yellow Ochre, English Venetian Red, Sepia Brown,Ivory Black.

blunt.flat; not great

The colors are very even, without shine. And when you paint with icing or wet on wet, after drying there are certain hard edges that are not very nice. For the "dry brush" technique (shadow on the belly of the fish) - it's normal. I used Daniel Smith's colors in the water around the fish.

Pros
  • Like everything before
Cons
  • Good, but not great

Great if you don't need tons of watercolors

great bright colour, small and compact. The volume is 5ml but that's enough for me as I don't paint much with watercolors (mostly in oil but I want to practice in WC for illustration). If you go to the toilet regularly, you will need 15ml tubes or pants/trousers.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons

Newbie: Painted

I know the size is small but it's ok because I want to try the Schmincke. I chose a tube shape to give me more options when using colors. The metal box survived the shipping without dents or dings. The case is definitely high quality, it's easy to open and close, it can be used as a pallet (remove the tubes). The pipes are securely fixed in the box. There is a metal stand under the pipes, but baking sheets and a tray are not included in the kit. Each tube is not soldered. Only one color is…

Large basic set Colors

These are wonderful colours. I liked this set because it includes colors. There is heat and cold in all primary colors, as well as green. Yellow ochre, English Venetian red and sepia are the perfect complements. Ivory completes the collection. You can mix almost any color you need with this basic set.

  • Price
Cons
  • Little things

Good starter set

Shipping and delivery was super fast. Although these tubes are small (only 5 ml), they can be used for a long time. This is a good choice of colors if like me you are just starting out with watercolor but prefer quality over quantity. It was fun mixing them up and seeing what other colors you can get without buying more tubes.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Slightly torn

My life is over

These are probably the best colors out there. Watch a comparison of the top 10 YouTube videos and they'll pop up every time, usually in first place too. I'm so excited I bought them when they were the same price as in Europe (about $60). I've been eyeing them for a while and they can cost up to $120. Now I have to get up the courage to use them haha!

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Expensive
