Initially, they will not be very bright at all, and the connection will constantly turn on and off. The dimmer only works well with conventional light bulbs from 60 to 100 watts. Really great lights! I was looking for lights that plug into the wall as I live in an apartment and they work great. What to look out for: There are several mounting holes in the mounting plate, but not all work. On the first attempt at installation, the screws in the mounting plate interfered with the black electrical box in the lamp. The lamp could still be installed but was not flush with the wall. Robust, ideal as a reading lamp above the sofa. This is a small log cabin with little to no space for floor or table lamps so a wall mount is perfect. Decided to try one to see if it was worth the money and it didn't disappoint. The installation was relatively easy for me, despite the strange instructions.
