Crumbly and unconditioned

Unfortunately my Sculpey Premo arrived unusable. I've tried using a clay softener and it helps little, the clay is still unworkable. I've heard people advise not to buy clay online and this purchase was consistent with that, it's probably very old and dried out.

Pros
  • Stays soft until baked - Does not air dry. Stays soft until baked in the oven.
Cons
  • Only available in black

Requires a lot of plasticizer

The end product is just great, but it took a lot of sweat, swearing and tears to make it work. Incredibly crumbly. I had to use a ton of clay softener and run it through the pasta machine so many times I almost gave up on it. However, a few nights a week, with a little help from others, it was eventually tempered to a usable point. Once baked it is beautiful and shimmering silvery white, not quite shiny, not quite metallic.

Pros
  • Sculpey Premo is available in 54 intense colors including glitter, metallic, pearlescent, granite and translucent shades. Pearls are the perfect color for any piece of clay, from jewelry to home decor!
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Very versatile, especially for mixing!

I love all modeling clay, just wish there was more accent clay in 8 oz. or 16 oz. Dimensions for larger projects. White Pearl is a really good, less expensive way to add a pearlescent sheen to some of the standard spot colors. For example I recently mixed it with: Sculpey Premo Art Clay, Ultramarine Blue Hue to give the blue a slight pearlescent shine and make it a little lighter. I only used a small portion of the white bead because I didn't want to lighten the blue too much. If you've never…
