Great for cleaning aquarium water

Well firstly I don't use charcoal that much but over the year I've found that only 2 brands really do a better job, at least in my aquariums. When you need to remove drug residue or other contaminants, Seachem Matrix Carbon is the way to go. Throw it in an aquarium mesh bag and put it in the filter.

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Very expensive

Highly recommended good for aquarium water purification

Super! Instead of cylindrical rods or lumps of carbon, these are tiny spheres of carbon. Rinses off in seconds with very few dust particles. You don't need much either, half a 50 gallon mug or something. I used to have to stuff a mesh bag to get the same effect as with this material.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Negative impression

Best activated charcoal I have ever used

I love that for the money this charcoal is cleaner than most other charcoals and lasts longer than other brands. The round shape of this charcoal seems to help it work better than other activated charcoals and it doesn't have bulky chunks of charcoal like other activated charcoals.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Really high quality product

Like most Seachem products, this one is no different. I use this in my Fluval 307 canister filter for my 45 gallon freshwater aquarium. I chose this to save money on Fluval carbon liners. So far I have been pleased with the performance of this product. I use nylon bags in my filter and have had no problems.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Almost OK

So far the best activated charcoal on the market

Whilst it is not the cheapest choice of activated charcoal I find it to be the best choice and all I will be using in my reef system is the lowest phosphorus content of any carbon. , the lance shape ensures a better flow and a larger surface, also due to the spherical shape. Keeps my water pristine and crack-proof, I like to change every 2 weeks as I feel like it can still work in my 100 gallons, it's basically depleted.

Pros
  • hands free
Cons
  • I don't remember

Too bad it wasn't that small

Charcoal balls are tiny. I tried using them in one of my internal filters to remove some of the tannins from my tank but because they are so small they went right through the sponges and out the filter rods. Space in the filter is limited, so I can't put it in a fine mesh bag and slide it in the filter. I ended up having to cover the grids with filter thread to keep them from falling out, but that just means I have to change them every time compared to the sponges that came with the filter. I'm

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Not sure

One of the best coals.

Will not fit Marineland's refillable media cassette. Which was my intended goal. It fits but doesn't stay inside. Everything gets spilled into the rear filters when you try to remove them for monthly cleaning or refills. It can get pretty ugly if it gets into the aquarium water, and a greedy big enough fish can mistake it for food and swallow it. So I wouldn't use it for refillable media cartridges. But I suggest putting it in a media bag first. Works much better ONLY IN THE MEDIA BAG! Save…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some small items
