I've tried vacuuming these bags before sealing several times. (I couldn't even vacuum the empty bag). The seal is questionable at best, they reopen easily. I had to seal each bag multiple times to get a good seal. The bags are heavy but I doubt they will fit a gallon. Haven't tried O2 absorbers but not sure if they work as the bags seem to be bad.

I bought these for long term food storage and they work great. Super quality bags with a notch at the top of the bag for easy opening. These bags are thicker than a standard vacuum bag, so you may have to reseal them a few times to make them stick, or my sealant is getting old and weak. Definitely I recommend buying these bags for the quality and price, you can't go wrong. The bags came with stickers, they are shown in the picture along with a Bic and Sharpe lighter for size comparison.

The bags seem fine. So far I've had one that was leaking (lost "suction" just after vacuum sealing), but it was on top of the stack and seemed to suffer a bit from handling. All others are intact and not leaking. The small tags attached to the bags are of limited value. Too small. But they are big enough to mark the date.
