The cable connected directly to the laptop caused the battery to overheat.

A USB cable plugged into a laptop caused the MacBook Pro battery to overheat and had the opposite effect when used as a cooling pad. The package includes a short cable for connecting to a computer, designed only for a computer USB port. The USB solid state connector was not firmly attached to the cable. Seller contacted for further assistance. General disappointment: the cable didn't work properly to cool the battery effectively.

Awesome cooling pads and external fans

This thing is amazing, it actually gets cold and I'm talking cold to the touch, maybe down to 40 degrees. I have no way of checking the temp but it's getting cold this is amazing and very awesome gear. The only downside is that the drive works so hard that it's too powerful for 2.0. So you need to plug it into an outlet with a plug. I think the description of the power consumption says that you shouldn't connect it to a computer because it's a surge of electricity. But this is the most powerful

Wow! Computers and Accessories

It actually works very well. No crazy noise levels from other fans. This lowered my laptop's temperature by about 15 degrees Celsius. Works like old Peltier CPU coolers. Love it!
