Great set of 22 art supplies

For the most part they are Sennelier quality. The colors are vivid and give your painting a different look. However, as others have said, the two gold crayons are rock hard and unusable. I couldn't get a decent score even on sandpaper. I'm surprised Sennelier didn't recognize this quality issue. I'm still glad I bought them for other colors.

Fun product in drawing media

I'm not a big fan of glitter and glitter, but Sennelier rainbow pastels are perfect for adding an interesting accent to an artwork. They are very versatile and blend easily with other pastel colors. They can even be shaded with pastel pencils. A little goes on the way. I have used a different brand of rainbow pastels but they are much better. Great price for a quality product that will last.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Not sure

Very glad I tried this test set. Senelliers are amazing but so expensive and so soft. I'm a beginner and I love soft pastel shades. After trying these and very affordable Mungyo and Faber Castell Polychromos and Prismacolor NuPastel I like Mungyo best and FC and PC for detail or extra work. At the moment the Senellier is too soft, crumbles easily and is too expensive for my level of work.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Long time

2 colors (822 and 824, both gold tones) were hard as stone and impossible to even apply pigment to their surface. After I pulled the pastel crayon out of the sponge in the case, there was still some pastel powder left. So I'm going to treat these beautiful pastels (that "work") very carefully and place them where I can create plenty of space around them so they can be included as seamlessly as possible. Too bad for my golden shades. Living abroad and sending everything through the mail doesn't…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Off fashion

I have never been more pleasantly surprised when trying a new art medium than Sennelier's dazzling pastels. I am in love with these professional quality soft pastels. They are so light and fluid when applied creating a great unique mood and bright aspect to the painting. I've decided to add these special pastels to my basic/basic pastel drawing supplies. I can't imagine any pastelist regretting trying them.

Unfortunately, the 2 colors are very hard

I'm still considering whether to return this set. While most of the colors look nice, although some are very soft and crumbly so you have to be careful, the two gold colors are (as another reviewer said) very harsh. I can barely get them to mark the paper without pressing so hard it breaks, which is utterly useless for pastel painting. 2 defective colors make the price too high, also gold was one of the colors I was looking forward to which partly took away the reason for buying this set.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Outdated

light dark + very soft + affordable = smile

I use Sennelier a lot but I have some very good Unison sticks from the Dark set. When I decided to buy a whole set darker I was thinking of the Unison set but it has fewer colors than the Sennelier dark set and is a bit more expensive. The weird thing is that I didn't buy the dark Sennelier shades because I tried a few on a visit to my local art store and some of them seemed a bit hard and crunchy to me (very strange for a Sennelier). I thought they just sat and did nothing for maybe twenty…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • thin
