Description of 🐍 Stainless Steel Immersion Wort Chiller - Northern Brewer Silver Serpent

A simple tweak, adding barbed fittings and a drop-angle to our favorite immersion chiller, spawns a new best-in-class product. Introducing Silver Serpent, the most sanitary immersion chiller on the market. Simply drop your clean chiller into the kettle a few minutes before the end of the boil and it will be ready to go. Brew with peace of mind like never before. Drop-angle connections keep surprise leaks outside your kettle and away from cooling wort. Standard garden hose connection allows for brewing outside or connects to a laundry sink faucet as your chilling water source. Comes fully assembled with tubing, barbed fittings, and hose clamps.

Does the job of brewing beer

Works well, albeit slowly as most of the hot liquid is on top. Stirring is required. Other designs with most coils above may work better.

Works perfectly. Came with a leak, I fixed it. Now it works fine.

Came to me with a leak. Was very frustrated, just smeared water repellent sealant on the leak, let it dry and everything is working great now. I shouldn't have sent it back if there was an easy fix. I only wish I had to.

Leaked on first try

I chose this copper wort chiller because I thought it had a better connection to the water house than another one that costs half. However, I was very disappointed when I saw water seeping into the copper tube on the first try. The company sent me a return label but shipping was half the price. I'm not sure what to do with it unless they send me a free exchange return.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • almost everything is there

Great product, much better than ice baths and definitely reliable

I bought this Silver Serpent wort chiller from Northern Brewer to use with my GigaWort brew kettle because you can't put a kettle in a kettle can put ice bath. It was very easy to use, and even with warm Texan tap water, the wort chilled from 212 to 100 in less than 1/4 the time it took to chill the same volume in an ice bath. It's durable, easy to clean, and since you drop it in boiling wort, it doesn't need to be sanitized. Everything I've bought from Northern Brewer Supply (either direct or…

Good wort cooler, small leak.

Good value for money. Enough ice baths, connect it to a hose outside and cool the wort in 15-20 minutes. from time to time a little to mix the seasoning, otherwise the thing stands there for an hour until it gets below 100 degrees. and some time. Works perfectly! My unit has a slight leak on both ports, I use it in my garage and the leak isn't in my pot it's outside so I'm not worried. Only downside as it drips constantly. Clean up can be a problem if you have cereal flavoring, don't let it sit

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

I'm new to the home brewing hobby and didn't use a wort chiller for my first home brew. I'm not stingy, but I also didn't want to be the sucker who walks into a homebrew shop and brings hundreds of dollars in luxury gadgets that I'll never use. I've read a lot about homebrewing and I've read over and over again that chilling the wort in an ice bath works great. Then I tried. wow boy First a few basic terms. Wort cooling is an important step in brewing. Generally, your first big job is…
