Pretty much crap, but with repairable parts.

I installed this crane to take some test shots. My camera weighs just under 6 pounds. The first time I lifted the crane, the top rung broke in half. Luckily the rig was only a few inches off the ground and neither the camera nor the lens were damaged. I could return the faucet but I had to go to a UPS store to do it and I live in the middle of nowhere. The nearest UPS store is over two hours away. So I took the faucet apart and replaced the trash rods with a 13 foot piece of 10 foot pipe that…

Excellent value for money. It seems strong enough to support the camcorder in my application and mounts easily on a tripod. The only downside was that I wasn't aware that there was no way to lock the assembly in place. Basically, it's designed to be manoeuvrable, rotate, raise and lower while recording videos or photos. For my application, I need to anchor at a fixed location. There was an eyelet on the arm that I could attach a weight or strap to and that suits me. Other items I looked at had…

Cheap and Weird - Camera Mounts and Stabilizers

It's okay for the price, but there are a few things to be aware of. First, it's pretty low quality. Over-tightening the locking knobs can scratch the "carbon fiber" which I think is just coated plastic. I've even heard it creak and crackle when it does this or just moves. He doesn't have good instructions. It's pretty put together, but there are a few things that don't make sense. Some accessories had no obvious way to install or use them. Even if you follow the instructions. It comes with an…

Great Design, Limited Features

This simple machine is beautifully built and I know it will last a long time if not abused (definitely not heavy duty "rental" gear). I also have two mic arms made by the same people (Sevenoak/Boya) and using the same materials - literally the same carbon tubes and the same machined aluminum locking rings. These two rods have been excellent and have had many trips and many productions over the past year. So I am sure that everything will be fine with that. My only regret - and the reason for…
