ONLY BUY! This is amazing quality at an insanely low price!

I AM GENIUS! For an item under $40, the sound quality is AMAZING! I don't use it on camera. I use this on a mic stand with an extension cord for videos I'm shooting in a low budget office studio. The sound quality doesn't sound like budget to me. I'm really stunned. For less than $90, I get quality sound for my videos for the first time. And no more stupid lavalier mics tying me to my gear and showing me on video! I highly recommend the following items to complete your video studio microphoneโ€ฆ

NOT normal use

I probably use this mic a little differently than most. By that I mean that I simply needed a better microphone than the one built into the camera. I needed it primarily to absorb the noise of spectators at children's lacrosse and running competitions. I used it for the first time last night to record my daughter's spring concert in high school. Again, my expectations were low. The environment was basically what I would call a very typical high school auditorium. I would say it seats around 200

Great if you are an electrical engineer.

Seriously, that thing was. terrible. When it arrived it was dead and I made a fuss about it to get a refund. They said just throw away the broken block, so I said fuck it, threw it on the bottom of the box and forgot about it. Until one day I got bored. On a whim, I decided to play Frankenstein a bit and see if I could bring this creation to life. Took it apart and HOLY SHIT THE SOLDER POINT WAS AWESOME HORRIBLE. Serious. Whoever builds these things, how do you look at yourself in the mirrorโ€ฆ

Fantastic general purpose microphone at an insanely low price

You know the saying "You get what you pay for?" It's almost always true. But this is one of those rare cases where you get more than you paid for. I can't believe this sub $30 mic sounds so good and has useful features. And I'm picky about sound. That being said, I'm new to production, but I've been an audiophile on the receiver end for years. Shortly after my son was born I decided to replace my DSLR with a video camera (Canon 80D) and I knew I needed a good upgraded microphone for certainโ€ฆ

Great cheap alternative to RODE - GOOD STARTER SHOTGUN MIC

This was my first DSLR mic I've bought and I'm happy with my purchase for the price. I was translating from RODE to this guy, so I trusted the video and got it. As described and illustrated, the device has three switches, a 3.5mm jack, a battery cover and a removable resistor. .The switches are well designed and you know when they are on. It takes 1 AA battery and I haven't had to change it yet. Turn on the microphone yourself and you're in business. There's a bass filter switch that can try to

  • handy item
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

Let's be honest, the camera microphones leave a lot to be desired. With the video quality of today's DSLRs, you really want the sound to be as impressive as the pictures. Step into the Takstar 598. Sound quality not quite Hollywood level, but much better than the in-camera microphone. Let's take a look, shall we? First the unpacking. Worth mentioning as this item comes in nice packaging. Much better than anything you would expect from Best Buy, for example. The original packaging with aโ€ฆ

Own noise is terrible, build quality is terrible

I've had this mic for 4 years, but right after buying it I noticed that I had constant problems hearing "ping" and "ringing". in my sound that I couldn't identify so I threw it in a drawer and forgot about it. I haven't shot a lot of videos until recently, so it really wasn't that important. I've taken it back and started using it again in the last few weeks as I begin to expand my photographic work. in video filming; immediately ringing and pings back. I spend a little more time examining itโ€ฆ
