Until I bought this sharpening stone I thought Shapton was an excellent sharpening stone. The product is advertised as 12000 grit, but it feels like 1000 compared to my 6000 grit sharpening stone. This stone is definitely not worth $80 when you can buy comparable sandpaper at Home Depot for $10.

I finally gave up and bought this because I didn't want to send my straight razor to be sharpened. The sling wasn't ready for shaving yet. That's exactly what it should be. I sharpened my razor and it passed the splitting test. So I sharpened my Microtechs for it too, razor sharp, that's how you get there. Great shop, I expect to stick with my sharpening every few months for the rest of my life.
