I don't know why people are against it. . I followed the instructions and installed correctly. 3 years without leaks. The key is cleanliness, deburring sharp edges, and lightly coating the pipe with petroleum jelly.

What a relief! Requires no soldering. No leaks. "Do it yourself" is my motto, but soldering copper tubing is a challenge that I've had but never want to try again. They're a little pricey, but factor in the cost of installation and not much. Just remember that the copper pipe should be cut straight and with beveled edges (with a file or sandpaper) to ensure the shark bite slides over it without cutting the o-ring inside.

I really liked how easy this snapped onto my 1/2" PEX pipe. We installed this in our RV and after installing and connecting the hose we have the line/connectors rated at 60psi Water tested and watched for a few minutes No leaks!
