Cricut can cut balsa up to 2.4mm, which is 2mm. I've been trying to get by with a precision knife and I can't get away with that either. I don't mind, for my first attempts at new projects, just to get an idea of where I'm going and I had to go wrong without spending a bag on mistakes. So for me it works great. Or your acquaintance with balsa wool or lime wood, then you already know what you are getting into. You need to make sure you use your cricut to make multiple passes over the project, not just one or two, I'm talking 5-8, that way you're not dividing half and not the other.
