Description of 🔪 Sherrill Mudtools Small Shredder Rasp Tool: Ideal for Pottery, Clay, and Sculpture Artists

An indispensable tool for shaping and carving leather hard clay. New open blade shape as well as a comfortable ergonomic grip. Doesn’t trap the waste clay in the tool and frustrate the user. Leaves a nice texture in the clay, tool color varies. 2.5" wide. Made in USA!

Ideal for beginners in ceramic and pottery tools

I am new to working with clay. This tool was provided during one of my introductory clay classes and was easier to use than a potato peeler. This will be one of my regularly used tools for years to come.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • No power

Sharp edges are best for crafting

As a clay tool this would be perfect, but I wanted to use it as a rasp to sand down the soles of my pointe shoes. This tool works for that too, but it has to be carried in a small pocket, and the sharp sides of the rasp stick out too far, which isn't practical.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Suitable

This confident shape is an essential tool

I love this item. It's small, works on straight or curved surfaces, and fits nicely in my crowded toolbox. The blade is easy to remove if it becomes dull (which hasn't happened before, but I don't use it on a lot of pottery). High-quality tools from Michael Sherrill. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Get this little treasure!

Super little thing, I do a lot of unnecessary things and some manual work. I used the foot file and was very disappointed. I've been looking for something like a small rasp at the hardware store, but to no avail. I saw a teacher on YouTube using it and had to have it. I broke so many pieces with non-clay tools, used immediately and loved it! I would say that this is an indispensable tool. And the price isn't bad at all.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

This is an essential tool for beginners

I am new to pottery. I understand, although I haven't yet perfected the taper, centering, opening, or elevation. I don't have to be perfect as long as I have the right tools to fix what I can't do on my bike by hand. As for me, I get a lot of bumps up and down the walls. With this tool I can smooth it out once it's dry. This tool gives me hope. I still have so much to learn about my new hobby. I can't wait to finally know what I'm doing. So far I've learned don't worry about learning without…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
