Holds up better than I thought

The spoke guard that came with my bike broke pretty quickly. Thought it would be the same with this one. But even after several disassemblies to replace the spokes, it holds up well.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Negative gift

Attachment great but great

Attaches to wheel different than original, faded, cracked, old unit but perfect fit. The old spoke guard is also pictured for reference. Feels stronger than the original. This is on a Diamondback Edgewood bike. Looks great and works.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • old

Perfect fit for Shimano STX FH-MC33 RC hub

Perfect fit for my Shimano STX FH-MC33 RC hub which is a 1990 7 speed 32 spoke cassette hub. I'm pretty sure I would have snapped off one of the 4 little tabs connecting the plastic guard to the hub, but luckily I didn't. Great product but $11+ seems expensive for what is essentially a piece of plastic.

Pros
  • Perfect fit for me
Cons
  • I will add later

I got this on total guesswork. and it works great on my SRAM 32 spoke freehub (same dimensions as Shimano). (CASSETTE) For every spoke protector. To determine the correct size, count the number of spokes and note the brand of the freewheel. Use this information to find the right spoke guard. Otherwise installation problems may occur.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Frequency

As advertised - spokes and parts

Fits my 32 spoke bike wheel perfectly. I was able to cover it with reflective tape on both sides first to keep it safe when riding on the road at night. My road bike has a chain that comes loose every 2 years and I don't want my spokes to get damaged when I'm 80km from home. I'm not a pro being chased by a pit crew in a van that can replace a new tire.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Not bad

The quality is good, the cassette was already removed, I got up immediately.

The spoke guard on my Trek 970 cracked and rattled. I was going to fix the rear wheel anyway and this spoke guard seemed like the right replacement for him. Works very well and snaps straight into place. I try to keep my bike from looking like flea market junk. I wanted a jerk ring, maybe I'm just being picky, but I wanted this piece and I'm glad I took the time to put it on. I think one is probably better than my original

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
