🚲 Shimano RM33 Freehub Body Unit: 8/9/10-Speed Performance at Its Best Review

Bought as a spare, insert a 10mm hex key. Knowing how to repackage old-style hub bearings is just an extra step to being able to repair these entry-level Shimano rear hubs.

My RM30 eventually died and I replaced it with this one (perfect match). I also exchanged the sprocket cassette for a Shimano CS-HG31. One note: 9 steel bearings are not supplied, so either buy new ones or reuse existing ones. I have reused mine (12 years and over 1000 miles) and they have worked well. I have also used White Lighting Crystal which I am very happy with so far.

Clutch body is sealed and well lubricated by Shimano. FYI - 10mm studs or external ball bearings are not included. I was able to reuse the pin and bearings from my existing clutch housing. If you buy it to build a new bike, you need to buy a bolt and bearing to use this clutch housing. I bought mine at Niagara Cycle Works. Maybe some other sellers include bolts and bearings.

I used this as a replacement for the FH-RM30 8-speed and it works great. Just look it up on You-Tube (search like "replace shimano hub") to find out how and make sure you have the right tools. I had to buy cone wrenches, a cassette remover, lube and a chain whip (Revain has everything) and still managed to get it all done for less than $60 and in under an hour.
