Original spare parts for Shimano STI levers, fit perfectly. Tip: Use plenty of liquid hand sanitizer on the inside of the hood and on the parts you pull the hood over. Also, preheat the covers in some hot water to make them easier to stretch over the brake structure.

I received ST-5700 cover plates for my Shimano 105 11-speed rear derailleur/brakes that don't fit. After getting the wrong pair and trying to put them on and realizing they just weren't quite compatible, I grabbed some reading glasses and a flashlight, looked at the tiny text on the brake lever and realized I had the ST-5800 -Version.

My original derailleur covers have become sticky after eight years of use and abuse. The exchange is pretty easy. They put old caps on switches; New caps are fitted in reverse order. I run my hoods under hot water for a minute or two to soften the rubber a bit and the water smears the hood a bit as it pops open.
