Excellent quality, no waste and slower hay collection

It's difficult to judge the quality of hay nets until they've been in use for a while. I first bought a Shires hay net and then when I needed another I bought a different brand thinking it would be comparable. The newer's nylon cord snapped, but the Shire is still like new. Now there was no question which one to buy. I have two Haflingers and need to monitor their hay intake to keep these hay nets working well. Slows down their consumption and does not spend.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Repair

SHIRES Poly Cord 2 " Hole Hay Mesh

I have several smaller Shires hay bags that worked so well I bought them. It's big! I think I could probably fit a whole bale of hay put it in if I wanted to. My horses took to this straight away and seem to like it better than the home made slow feed boxes I've been using for a few years. It seems like a good product. I wish I could think about it. I use these special bags for about a week but will try to report later on how well they are holding up.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • So So

You can easily pull out hay and there is less hay waste than others.

The net fits my three goats very well. You can get the hay out easily and there is less hay waste than other methods we have used. Warning. Our goats have horns and one of the horns got caught in the net and he twisted his head in the net so he jerked his feet off the ground. If we hadn't found him sooner, we're afraid we'd have a dead goat. We now only allow access outside the stable during the day when we can keep an eye on the daily routine.

Pros
  • Super for me
Cons
  • Expensive

REALLY LOVE IT! - Horses

My previous hay net was made out of what looks more like oversized dental floss. While the beautiful mesh had zero durability. This mesh is a much more durable material. Much heavier polypropylene rope with same size hole to allow horses to pull hay. stands for itself). This is very convenient when I don't need to put anything in it to load cereal. This is the only type of hay net I will buy in the future. It is well made and worth the money.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Clarity

Good quality for feeding and watering

Seems to be holding up well using this indoor pen. Try something new with slow feeding but food is available 24/7. Less frustration in horses and humans, less chance of ulcers or exacerbations in horses. Do you really think that their weight has become more manageable because these networks keep them busy, definitely less bored and less inclined to dig around or drop their heads when it comes to feeding breakfast. It's also the assurance that the hay is healthy and untouched, still in the net…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Belt broke within 1 day

Try something new with my ladies (friez and akh) this year. This season I bought 4 Revain hay nets, 2 from this source as they were only $8 each. I have not tried a second identical mesh as it tears easily. Compared to other nets, this is a stiff 1. not at all shire, they are in stock by tractors, they have very thin threads, I think I expected them to be more durable. not too happy but still with a broken one and the price makes it difficult to send back.

Pros
  • Trial period for one year
Cons
  • Piggy bank at a bargain price

Online number 2! - Feeding and watering equipment

I have bought this chain twice. Not because it failed and I decided to try again, but because the first one took YEARS. I got mine in a haystack. The loops on top that connect to the metal hay hoop loosen up, but I just slide it down to the next loops and I'm fine. If you use it several times a day like we do, it's good to change it every few months. I have an industrial hay net and this one and this one is half the price and it lasts just as well as the other and has gotten more use. I was…

Good value, durability and strength

I've tried other slow feed pouches and these lasted the longest. I can easily get large amounts of hay in if I want to. Other slow feed pouches I've bought break. I had no problem with any of the ropes breaking because the horses were eating them. I hang them high up in the stable and save myself the late haymaking in the winter. Horses seem to prefer feeding from sacks as it is like pulling grass. Bags are strong and last a long time. I bought two more after having two for over a year. I have…
