Shires Tempest Plus 200G Turnout Blanket: Ultimate Protection and Warmth for Horses Review

So far this has been a great blanket for my horse. The blanket is warm, fits well and stays in place, even during the horses' escapades in the pasture. Fabric, buckles etc feel solid. Overall I am very happy with this blanket.

Had to temporarily separate 2 mares due to fighting which left 1 out in the cold pouring Oregon winter rain for a week. This blanket kept her warm and dry in the mud and sleet and when it was removed it looked great! Very durable and if your horse frets about the standard hind leg straps this one has one that goes under the tail, low enough not to cause problems while still holding the rug in place.

Quality seems ok but definitely not as good as Weatgerbeeta. There were no back straps in the kit so I had to buy extra and there is no fleece at the withers either. The extra cost makes me think it would be better to buy a Weatherbeeta first, but since it was a replacement for the one that had the waist belt come loose in the rain I looked around for something cheaper just thought I'd found one much, but I was wrong

My daughter's pony doesn't technically "need" a blanket other than the fact that she thinks she's half a pig. We've had some pretty crazy weather the past few weeks so I bit the bullet and bought her this size 51 blanket. Quality material and it fits like a glove. It even included a piece of cloth in case you ever need to patch it.
